Maya vs Corn on the Cob

Maya's getting a little pickier with her eating, but she loves her some con on the cob!

Here she is putting her new teeth to good use...

A Week in Colorado

Last week we went to Colorado to visit family and see some mountains.

We started with a few days in Denver at Maya's Uncle Mike's house where we enjoyed some delicious BBQ and went boating.

We then headed up to Estes Park (right outside of Rocky Mountain National Park) where we stayed at the YMCA camp.

The first couple days were a little chilly (so much so that Maya and her mom got to see their first snow fall)

It eventually warmed up enough for us to go hiking

Maya enjoyed herself, especially meeting all her cousins and aunts and uncles for the first time.

Maya's new water table

For Maya's birthday we got her a water table since she loves water so much. She seems to enjoy it.

In other news, Maya skipped walking and went straight to jogging:

1 Years old!

On Friday Maya turned one year old! We had a party for her on Saturday afternoon. A couple friends dropped by and we had a barbecue out by the pool.

Maya got some toy blocks, a watertable, some books, lots of things that make noises, some new shoes, a new dress....

and lots more goodies, including a piggy bank to put away her first dollars that came with her birthday cards from her aunts and uncles and cousins.

She's still doing great with her walking and gets more and more confident every day. She can now walk around the room, making turns and (usually) avoiding obstacles. She can carry items around when she walks now and is beginning to enjoy bringing stuff over to give to her mom or me.

She's not doing any talking yet, though she surprised us the other day by saying "mmmmm....chicken" when I was feeding her chicken. At least that's what we like to think she said. We decided that we will be telling everyone that her first word was "chicken"
